Description
We are in Volissos, the largest village of northwestern Chios, at a road distance of 42 kilometers away from the city of Chios.

The film opens with a panoramic shot of the men from the TEA (National Guard Battalions or better known as National Security Battalions) who have gathered for the celebration in honor of the Volissian fallen in the wars as we also see the Heroes' monument. The filmmaker shows us the priests for the doxology in front of the monument as well as the people who are of all ages. The lens stands on the lingering soldiers and then gets back to the priests and the people.

The film closes with the laying of wreaths by one of the armed forces and then by the president of the community at the time, Mr. Michalis Kougioulis.

The National Guard Battalions (TEA) were established in 1948 during the Greek Civil War by decision of the General Staff of the Army. It was the continuation of the Field Security Units (MAU) and the Mixed Prosecution Squads, which had been staffed by men from dosilogical and far-right organizations, active since the time of the Occupation. During the dictatorship (1967-1974) they were renamed National Guard Battalions (TE). They were abolished in 1982 and replaced by the National Guard.
