Karystos is a small coastal town on the Greek island of Euboea which is the second-largest Greek island in area and population, after Crete.
A historic, picturesque shipyard had been developed on the west beach of the village, which today has been replaced by the new port of Karystos. It can now accommodate all types of private and commercial yachts, fishing boats, passenger ships and freight ships. The film is, therefore, a historical document.
We see a panoramic shot of the shipyard, mainly fishing boats pulled ashore awaiting their repair, while farmers wash their buckets that were used in the harvest.
On the shore, we see the boat "Metamorphosis", a broken keel, shipyard workers repair the boats and a lighthouse in the background. We see views of several repairs taking place in shipyard, names on the sides of the boats "Doukas", "Filio", "Charly", "Agios Nikolaos", "Andros", a large hanging anchor, a bare hull that is in the process of being coated, keels, propellers and workers.
Lastly, on a conical hill at the foot of Mount Ochi, we can see the fortress of Karystos, also named Castello Rosso or Kokkinokastro.
