Kastoria is a city in northern Greece in the region of Western Macedonia, built on the peninsula of Lake Orestiada, from which it is surrounded.
We are about five kilometers east of Kastoria, in the parking lot, outside the Byzantine Monastery of Virgin Mary Mavriotissa and we see the filmmaker's company and other visitors. Distinctive features are the age-old plane trees throughout the surrounding landscape. We see the stone wall which is part of the Monastery complex, the huge trunk of a 900-year-old plane tree and, between the branches and the foliage, we can see the bell tower of the Monastery.
A wooden sign that writes "Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary Mavriotissa - 11th century". Then we watch the rich frescoes of the monastery buildings exterior. We distinguish over a low door the hagiography of St. John the Theologian.
At the end we see the filmmaker and his company who are outside the monastery among the plane trees, by the lake.
