The National Kaftanzogleion Stadium is located in the center of Thessaloniki, its construction began in 1956 with a donation from the Lysimachos Kaftanzoglou Foundation (hence the name) and the inauguration took place four years later, on October 27, 1960.
The filmmaker gives us a panoramic view of the full crowded stadium as well as the photographers who capture the arrival of the-then-Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis who greets the people by lifting his hat.
Afterwards, we see shots from the benches where we see the Metropolitan priest of Thessaloniki Panteleimon I, while King Paul, his wife Frederica, his successor Constantine, Prince Michael and Princess Sophia ascend to the official seats.
The ceremony begins with the spectacular Philharmonic orchestra of the Papafeio Orphanage who parades, followed by sections of sports clubs, pupils, students and athletes.
King Paul watches the ongoing parade standing. We see general shots of the full stadium.
