The Prespa National Park is one of the 10 National Parks of Greece and was established mainly to protect the rare species of birds -pelicans (genus Pelecanus), cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo), herons (Ardea Linnaeus) and raptors- that nest within its boundaries.
We are on an islet of Vromolimni, at the Northern end of Small Prespa Lake, which houses a mixed colony of pelicans and scientists study and record the breeding and living conditions of the forenamed birds.
Afterwards, we see two dark great white pelicans (also known as the rosy pelicans - Pelecanus onocrotalus) chicks swimming alongside the water lilies and reeds, gathers to be "trained" for the upcoming migration journey to warmer places.
