Description
We are across the Liston stoa in the city of Corfu, as the philharmonic band passes in front of us in a slow pace.
Naval scouts and scouts follow the parade as the lens turns up and we see a lot of people watching the litany from their flag-decorated balconies. Many priests follow, the relics of Saint Spyridon pass in front of us and then the Epitaph which is carried by 4 priests.
It is the morning of Holy Saturday when the procession of the Epitaph of the church of Saint Spyridon takes place with the Saint's relics.
And suddenly after a few minutes from the mourning of the epitaph, the celebration of the "Early Resurrection” follows and takes place here at 11.00 in the morning of Holy Saturday.
It is the time when thousands of large clay pots ("botides") are thrown down full of water to smash on the street pavement from the windows of the houses or the balconies. An impressive spectacle that attracts thousands of tourists every year.
