Zakynthos (or Zante) is an island in the Ionian Sea in Greece.
We are at a distance of about two kilometers away from the town of Zakynthos, on the hill of Stranis, where we see the bust of Dionysios Solomos, the poet of the National Anthem of Greece.
In the column on which the bust is supported, there is a sculpture representing Freedom, holding a raised sword and the verses of the poet that close the National Anthem are written: "Hail, oh, Hail, Freedom".
At the area of the monument was a tree, in the shadow of which the poet wrote the “Anthem to Freedom", a poem inspired by the Greek Revolution of 1821.
Panoramic shots of the lush vegetation of olive trees, the mountainous area, the plain crops, a part of the island’s western coastline in the Ionian Sea and a small settlement in the lowlands.
