Description
Pelion is a mountain in the Prefecture of Magnesia next to the city of Volos, in Thessaly, Greece. At the ends of the mountain there are many famous beaches either from the side of the Aegean Sea or from the side of the Pagasitic Gulf.

According to the filmmaker’s description, we are on the excursion boat "Kourkouvelos" which takes its passengers on a tour of some of the most beautiful beaches of Pelion, such as Ai Giannis, Papa Nero, Damouchari and Mylopotamos beach which are located on side of the Aegean Sea.

As we cross the beaches, the camera captures seaside homes, tourist accommodation and large hotels that are under construction, sea caves and also the forests that reach the sea.

The excursion is over and the boat's crew is mooring it ashore.

Creator's description

On the boat "Kourkouvelos" owned by Odysseus and Giannis Kourkouvelos. Summer 1968. We go on an excursion to the famous beaches of Pelion. A video-document that shows how tourism and conquerors are imposed on nature.

Agios Ioannis of Pelion before the cementation - Magnificent port of Ksos (Kissos) with a few buildings and the Hotel "Aloe" under construction (now is deserted, reclaimed by nature).

Papa-Nero Pelion: the amazing beach next to the previous, with lush vegetation, 2 buildings and a hut, green to crystal blue waters. A paradise.

Damouchari: Only one building-warehouse on the left and two or three houses.

Milopotamos Pelion: the famous beach with the perforated rock, there is also a cafe with ferns (!) on the sea. And then the captains raise the anchor…
