Description
We are in the isthmus of Corinth, which connects the Central Greece with the Peloponnese. The Saronic Gulf and the Gulf of Corinth are connected through the canal that has been opened at the area.

The filmmaker stands on one of the canal’s bridges and takes shots from the ship "Ionia" of the Hellenic Mediterranean Lines (ELMES), as it is towed to cross the canal.

The "Ionia" was built in 1913 in Britain under the name "Digby" for Furness Lines, and in 1947 it was bought by ELMES in Greece where it remained until 1965. The ship, which weighed almost 4 thousand tons, was a passenger ship but could also carry cargo.

In the next shot, we are given the chance to observe it from a closer distance. We see the decks and the lifeboats, as well as the signal of ELMES on its funnel.

Afterwards, we watch the ship’s stern as it crosses the canal and sails further and further away from the camera.

Lastly, we see the bus stop that is located on the isthmus, as the bus approaches it.
