Description
A trip to the Hakone or Ashinoko volcanic lake with "The Royal" ship, inspired by the 17th century French sailing warship, Soleil Royal. The ship is a historic ship replica, even though some people also refer to it as a pirate ship replica. It is in red shades, two stories high, with an observation deck.

Lake Ashi is located on the island of Honshu in Kanagawa County and is famous for its views of Mountain Fuji and its numerous hot springs.

We watch "The Royal" as it crosses the lake, alongside small cliffs, small boats and ferries.

After the mini-cruise, we ride up the Hakone aerial tram to Komatagake, experiencing the steam from the underground geothermal activity. The aerial tram starts from Togendai and ends at Sounzan.

Last view at Mountain Fuji (Japan's highest mountain), which as the clouds dissolve, we see views from its conical top.

Creator's description

Now let’s go for a trip on Lake Hakone. On a clear day it is possible to see the top of Mt. Fuji from here, but unfortunately it’s not clear today. But I suppose that is hardly surprising –it’s November now, and winter is approaching. Winter is mild in Tokyo itself, but out here in the mountains it can be quite severe.
The obligatory group photo before leaving the quayside. The Japanese just love photographing themselves and being photographed, and no occasion is lost.
A longish journey by cable car takes us up and down mountains and across a deep crater … but now we can hardly see anything because of the mist.
From the terrace of the Mt. Fuji Hotel we look vaguely in the direction of Mt. Fuji, but alas it is well hidden.
What a piece of luck, though! Just as we reach half-way up the mountain the clouds part for a moment and there she is: the peak of Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan.
