Description
The film starts with views of the island’s wild flora and then with a distant view of the houses that are perched to the rock Vouno, 23 meters high at the harbour’s entrance to Pigadia of Karpathos.

The footage is from the Despotiko area.

The wandering continues on the road that passes in front of the harbour where the lens captures a small young man who is fishing from the porch of a neoclassical house. The camera follows the fishing line, discovering a small port where someone is working on his boat. We watch moments of relaxation of the locals in the coffee-houses along side of the harbour.

The film closes with shots from the marine flora of a rock and two boats that are tied to the crystal clear waters of the island.

Creator's description

Situated half-way between Rhodes and Crete, Karpathos belongs to the Dodecanese group of islands and has shared their history. Thus from 1912 to 1948 the island was under Italian rule, and there are still a few buildings put up by the Italians.
This one, for example, with its pillared portico, was some kind of a guard-house, keeping watch over the little harbour on one side and a fine bay, with an excellent bathing beach, on the other.
Overlooking the harbour of Pighadia is the coffee-house, with its usual clientele of locals –fortunately the island is not swamped with foreign tourists yet.
