Description
The clip begins with a long shot of a central street in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia.

Shots of cars and pedestrians, others gathered on a pavement, buses, coaches and vehicles on the
street. Three women sit on a bench talking, while a uniformed man walks by.

Shots of the building of the British Embassy, the flagpole with the British flag, a balcony with the coat of arms of the United Kingdom and the main door to the building.

The camera turns to several people, men and women, working. A woman looks on and talks with them.

In the next shot, at the back of the embassy, but near it, one can see a large settlement of the traditional round tents called yurts.

Creator's description

This is the main street of Ulan Bator, the capital, and here are some of the inhabitants. There are occasional glimpses of women wearing the colourful national costume.

And here is the British Embassy, the only Western listening post in this remote and lonely land.

Within a short distance of the Embassy are hundreds of circular tents, called yurts. Most Mongolians continue to prefer living in such tents rather than in Russian-style blocks of flats.
