Description
Salvador is the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia and the third largest city in the country after Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The first views of the film are from the arrival of the filmmaker and his company at the airport, where a sign welcomes the travelers in a special way, it writes in Portuguese, English and French the phrase "Smile ... you are in Bahia".
Just after that, we are in the car, on a road in Salvador where we realize that this is a carnival season, as there are many people in costumes and others who are playing drums. The filmmaker and his company arrive at their hotel, Pousada Convento do Carmo, an old monastery that has been turned into a guest house and next to the building we can see the bell tower of the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel that is connected to the monastery.
On foot now, we are at the historic center of Salvador or Pelourinho where we admire the architecture of the buildings and especially the temples of Portuguese colonialism, a bell tower in a restoration-maintenance phase, crowded roads, a kiosk with dozens of magazines around it, we see the bell towers of St. Francis and people line up, a woman who is looking at the camera, a souvenir store called "L ‘atelier" & the filmmaker who zooms in on a sculpture. Nearby, two men create and exhibit jewellery.
