Footage of the ship Despoina owned by Fustanos company, in the port of Piraeus (Athens), which, with the ladder down, is waiting for the last passengers to sail to Santorini.
We watch the porter sitting on his empty wagon and then views of Piraeus as the ship leaves the port. The lens captures ships along the pier and the building structure of Piraeus that surrounds the port. The film closes with the sun fading into the sea.
Despoina was built in the US in 1943 as an escort ship. In 1949 it was bought by Foustanos ship owners and in 1952 it started operating in the Cyclades commanded by Captain Beis in the 1960s. In the late 60's the ship retired. We will also see footage of the same ship in the 1960 Greek film "For You My Love".
