Rethymnon is the capital of the homonymous prefecture of Crete. The film begins with a panoramic shot in the waters of the Cretan Sea and zooms in on a pier. A road sign directs to "Rethymnon" and to "Ag. Paraskevi".
Footage from the car on the road, we enjoy the Cretan countryside, scattered settlements, a donkey complies with road behavior and stays aside so that the car can pass, a donkey with his rider, continuing the route in the green landscape and reaching the small Venetian port of Rethymnon.
Fishing boats are cruising, fishermen are working on them.
On the waterfront, taverns, benches and buildings that compose the urban fabric, as it was formed during the Venetian and Turkish occupations. Panoramic shots of the harbor, boats tied at the moor, laid tables await restaurant customers, the corner of an ornate balcony and a Venetian pier.
Visitors take souvenir photos of the city from the ring road. At the end of the film we can see the Venetian Castle of Rethymnon, the Fortezza.
