We are on a balcony of an apartment building on Alexandras Avenue, a major road in the center of Athens, Greece.
It is March 25, a national holiday for the Greeks, which celebrates the beginning of the Greek Revolution of 1821 against the Ottoman rule. This day is an official holiday as Independence Day in Greece and the celebrations include military parades with the parade of Athens being the largest.
The filmmaker, from the balcony of his house at the ascent of Alexandra Avenue, records the tanks that return to their bases, from the central parade in front of the officials in Syntagma Square. We see the Greek flag hanging on, almost, every balcony and on the next balcony a woman watching the procession holding a flag.
The tanks are followed by the army vehicles that are loaded with soldiers, platforms with rockets, police motorcyclists, patrols and fire trucks. The citizens on the sidewalks are watching.
The procession keeps on going up and Mount Hymettus is visible in the background.
