The traditional wedding, with a history of 300 years, was organized by "bratimia". "Bratimia" were the chosen friends of the groom and the bride.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the relatives and the friends gathered and arranged the dowry. On Thursday, the wedding bread is kneaded. On Friday, the "keratzides" (muleteers) carry the dowry to the picturesque cobbled streets of the village with their adorned horses and accompanied by the village’s band to the main square where the wedding dress will be made.
The first shot is a sign of the Municipality’s map and information about Makrinitsa. It is built in the northwestern part of the Pelion mountains. It is one of the most touristic mountain villages of Greece and is famous for its special architecture and for the magnificent view it has towards Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf. Hence it was given the nickname “the balcony of Pelion".
The cinematographer and his friends arrive at the village’s main square where in front of a restaurant are gathered people. We see the beginning of a parade of musicians and is followed by a man who rides a donkey and holds a saucer and a bottle. It's the "keratzis" (treater). More donkeys loaded with the bride's dowry follow the parade as well as women who hold her dresses on hangers. The treat is continued by the keratzis. An elderly field guard in a blue uniform and a beautiful big mustache is impressive as he is being treated by the rider.
